[Product Review] Woolino Merino Wool 4 Season Sleep Bag

Winter is near and that means getting my little one ready for the cold Canadian weather. That’s the thing about parenthood – you’re always worried about your baby being too hot or too cold, particularly when asleep. Thankfully with Woolino’s Merino Wool 4 Season Sleep Bag Baby James is warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s hot. If you’re searching for a sleep sack for your baby then look no further. In our household this is a definite must-have.

My dear friend Pauline introduced me to this sleep bag when James was a mere few months old and we’ve been using it ever since. The 4 Season Sleep Bag is a wearable blanket suitable for children ages 2 months to 24 months old. It’s lined with 100% natural superfine Merino wool and the outer layer is made with 100% organic cotton. You will find all sorts of studies that essentially agree on the same thing: loose blankets in the crib can be dangerous for infants and a risk factor for SIDS, while wearable blankets are a recommended alternative. Overheating is another risk factor for SIDS, but with the 100% pure Australian Merino wool you can be assured that merino wool is exceptionally breathable and helps regulate body temperature. Your baby will sleep safely and comfortably through the night, even if wet, because wool is a good thermal insulator.

Generous and roomy fit that doesn’t restrict movement and helps promote healthy hip development

I love the organic textiles because they’re so soft against James’ eczema-prone skin. Also, unlike some other sleep bags, there is no synthetic filling which can make baby sweat and overheat. James has worn this sleep bag throughout all four Canadian seasons as well as on both trips to Vegas, and I’ve not once had to worry about appropriate TOG ratings nor size or fit.

Merino wool is naturally flame-resistant without the use of harsh chemicals, as well as hypo-allergenic and antibacterial. I don’t need to wash this all the time, but what I make sure to do is unzip it fully and air it out each morning. As for cleaning it’s conveniently machine washable and dries quickly in the dryer on low heat. After one full year of use ours still retains its shape and softness, without any pilling of the wool. 😀

According to the temperature guide provided, 18 to 20°C (64 to 68°F) is the recommended temperature range for baby’s nursery. Depending on your nursery’s temperature, this guide helps you decide how to dress baby underneath the sleep bag.

Baby James…zzz….

Overall we love this Merino Wool 4 Season Sleep Bag by Woolino. It’s well constructed and luxuriously designed, and most importantly keeps my baby comfy in his sleep. It’s great that I don’t have to switch James out of it anytime soon because there’s still enough room for growth. Even if that weren’t the case there is also a 4 Season Toddler Sleep Bag available for children of ages 2 to 4 years old. There are also many great patterns to choose from, like the Stars design featured in this post. Priced at $99.99 USD each, but wearable for up to two years at a time, I think this is great value! Check it out and let us know what you think. 😀

Cheers,

Melissa
