Andrea’s Gerrard St. Bakery: Toronto

Another dessert post here, and happily devoured by yours truly :D. These were courtesy of our dear friends Derek and Yannan, from one of their favourite bakeries in Leslieville: Andrea’s Gerrard Street Bakery. Very yum yum!

Always ready for afternoon tea: (top tier) flourless chocolate cake and coconut cream pie, (bottom tier) butter tart and lemon currant scone.

Butter tarts are one of my all-time favourite desserts so this was a very welcomed treat. Btw it was also huge, about the size of my palm (bonus points for that)! I would definitely recommend it for its lovely caramel flavour, and a crunchy candied top which I’ve never seen on a butter tart before. The lemon currant scone was also a very generous portion size and paired well with my hot cup of rooibos tea.

The flourless gluten free chocolate cake was incredibly rich and dense, and surprisingly more fudge-like rather than cake-like. It was super duper chocolatey, and would easily satisfy any sweet tooth. I could tell that Andrea’s Bakery uses nothing but the best ingredients, so I was comfortably savouring each bite for myself and baby in my belly. Next up, the coconut cream pie – my favourite one of all! The creaminess contrasted well with the crunchy toasted coconut garnish. If you order nothing else, then you have to have this :D.

Cheers,

Melissa
