Fruit Smoothies

Lately I’ve been obsessing over fruit smoothies again, and making them at home has been a real treat. My mom used to blend them every morning for me, and now that I’m married I’m carrying that forward for myself and Joseph. They’re great for breakfast-on-the-go (especially during the morning commute), and full of energizing vitamins. I swear it even makes my skin glow!

Super easy to make, you only need 3 ingredients in a blender: frozen fruit, a ripe banana, and filtered water. I don’t add fruit juice nor ice to mine!

The riper the banana, the tastier it gets. You need to add a real banana and can’t rely on the frozen variety, because it gives the smoothie it’s desired thickness, sweetness, and makes it creamy and delicious.

I love my Welch’s frozen fruits – they’re amazingly fresh! I’m always stocking up the freezer with this.

Today I used Welch’s Strawberry Banana Mix.

Add frozen fruit to 1/3rd of the cup.

Top up with one ripe banana.

Fill the cup to the brim with filtered water. You need to add water to make this into a drink, otherwise you just end up with very thick fruity slush that can only be scooped out.

Begin blending! I love my Magic Bullet, and it really makes this process SO easy. All it takes is 15 seconds of blending to reach the desired consistency.

There’s no ice required because of the frozen fruit, but this tastes even better after it’s chilled in the refrigerator for an additional 30 minutes. ENJOY this refreshing drink! 😀

Cheers,

Melissa
